Sharon is responsible for delivering Mayor Kriseman’s sustainability priorities by working across city departments and with citizens, businesses, and community partners to establish a community-wide sustainability program. Sharon’s experience includes community planning and environmental work related to water/wastewater, transportation, solid waste resources outreach and planning work. Her project work has occurred in states across the country including Georgia, Florida, Washington State, Oregon, Alaska, Montana, and California. She worked as a planner with an engineering firm for almost 14 years before coming to the City of St. Petersburg in 2014.
Sharon’s work with city departments, businesses, local utilities and other organizations to collaborate on how to achieve 100% Clean Energy in a city with an Office of Sustainability less than two years old may offer a perspective that lends itself to pushing into solutions with a range of possibilities and risk. In addition, the city’s approach to view sustainable and resilient efforts through a lens of equity at the outset is considered key to successful city programs.
