Leith Blachford

Director of Communications

Leith Blachford is the Director of Communications for Renewable Cities at SFU’s Morris J. Wosk Centre for Dialogue.

Leith supports strategic communications initiatives and knowledge mobilization for innovative climate solutions at Renewable Cities. This includes advancing digital communications, stakeholder engagement, media outreach and knowledge translation for policy recommendations. Leith (she/her) is committed to advancing climate solutions — she believes communication plays a critical role in pivoting perspectives toward opportunities for engagement and action.

Through her decades-long career in developing, leading, and implementing communications and marketing plans, Leith has delivered key projects in sustainable development, community engagement, indigenous storytelling and advocacy. She’s a spirited collaborator, team leader and deep believer in the power of unique strategy and creative excellence to produce extraordinary results. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, and post-graduate degrees in Journalism and Industrial Design.

Her favourite urban journey is walking with her son (and often her cat) through a nearby neighbourhood park that features a secret staircase passing through multiple garden plots.

“I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery—air, mountains, trees, people. I thought, ‘This is what it is to be happy.’” — Sylvia Plath
